Room and Device Setup

How do I set up my room?

Move anything that might get in the way. Make sure there’s free space around you before you get moving, grooving, and tied up in knots! Make sure there isn’t anything between you and your device while you play, and that there are no other people in frame.

What if I have a smaller play space?

We recommend Arms-Only Mode for smaller play areas. Arms-Only Mode allows you to play TWISTER Air while seated, using only your arms. Since Arms-Only Mode requires players to be closer to the camera, it also requires less space.

How do I set up the device stand?

First, snap the device stand post into the base. Then, place your device in the device stand horizontally and slide the clip down until your device is secure. If you have a case on your device, you can remove it for a better fit. If your device’s camera is on the side of the device, you may have to adjust it so that the clip doesn’t cover the camera. Set the device stand, with your device secured, on a stable surface approximately 2.5-3 feet (.75-1 meters) from the ground. Each player's full body, standing side by side, must be in view of your device's camera.

At what height should I place the device stand?

Set the device stand, with your device secured, on a stable surface at table top height (approximately 2.5-3 feet, or .75-1 meters) so that each player's full body, standing side by side, is in view of your device's camera.

Can I play TWISTER Air on my TV?

Yes! There are two ways you can connect to your TV: wirelessly by casting, mirroring, and Apple Airplay over your local Wi-Fi network, or by connecting an HDMI cable from your device to your TV.

For more information on how to connect to your TV, tap the main menu button in the top right corner of the title screen. Tap the "Play on your TV" button at the top of the menu.

The Bands, Calibration and Lighting

How do I wear the bands?

Each player wears two ankle bands and two wrist bands, which should be worn over your clothes. It doesn’t matter what color combination you choose, as long as the wrist bands (the smaller bands, with a hand pattern) go on your wrists and the ankle bands (the larger bands, with a foot pattern) go on your ankles! Don’t forget to remove your shoes before putting on the ankle bands.

How do I tell the wrist bands from the ankle bands?

Wrist bands are smaller and have a hand pattern on them. Ankle bands are larger and have a foot pattern on them.

Why are my bands not tracking?

Ensure the room you’re playing in is well and evenly lit. Tracking works best when there aren’t any really bright or dark areas in the play space. If there’s a bright light or open window behind you, that can make tracking harder too.

• Colorful lighting (for example, red or blue lights) can also interfere with tracking.

• Make sure you are wearing your bands over your clothes, and avoid loose-fitting clothing.

• Make sure the bands don’t blend in with your clothes, or with the background.

• Ensure only players are visible onscreen and no other people are in the frame.

What if my bands get dirty?

Hand wash your bands with warm soapy water. Allow the bands to fully air dry before using.

How do I calibrate?

Raise your arms to match the onscreen pose. Align your wrist and ankle bands to each circle. Once the system detects your bands, hold that pose!

How do two players calibrate at the same time?

Both players need to hold their calibration pose. If one player calibrates successfully before the other player, they should remain in the calibrated pose and wait for the second player.

Why are my band colors wrong during calibration or play?

This could be due to improper lighting, or because your bands are obscured by clothing. Ensure that your room is well lit, with no colored lights, and no bright lights or open windows behind you. Make sure you’re wearing your bands over your clothes and remove other wrist/ankle accessories.

If your band colors are still mismatched after you’ve made those adjustments, that’s OK: you can still play. Just pay attention to the color each band is glowing on the screen and use those colors to guide you instead of the bands’ actual colors.

Why can't the app detect me?

Try to keep your face (especially your eyes) and hands visible while playing.

Avoid wearing clothing that is densely patterned or blends in with the background.

Make sure there’s nobody else in frame except the players.
